Top Apple Products 2020

2020 has been an excellent year for Apple. It’s seen its stock market value top $2 trillion, had multiple successful product launches, including the iPhone SE and iPad Pro, and is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon as it prepares for its new range unveiling event in September.

We’ve already had some interesting announcements out of the company this year, including its plan to transition away from Intel processors to its own Apple Silicon in the next couple of years. The first Macs using these chips are expected at the end of 2020, and it’ll be interesting to see how they compare.

With so many new products expected to hit the market, and Apple’s seemingly endless appetite for innovation, we’ve put together a guide to walk you through the best the company has to offer in 2020 and beyond.

Best products 2020

iPhone SE

Launched in April of 2020, the iPhone SE is worth a mention as one of Apple’s top products of the year. It’s positioned as a budget phone starting at $399, has a lighting-fast A13 processor, a seven-megapixel front-facing camera with stabilized 4K video, and wireless charging.

The low price and solid set of features are likely to attract a lot of new users over to Apple, and it’s an excellent option for those looking for a premium product on a budget.

iPad Pro

2020 saw an upgrade to the iPad Pro, first released back in 2018. The biggest improvement was the introduction of mouse and trackpad compatibility, which opened up features that allow users to operate the device more like a computer.

Some of these features included augmented reality rendering, faster processors, and the ability to complete your work on the go. Coming in a 12.9 and 11-inch version, the starting price is a little high at $799, but it’s still an excellent tool for designers.

However, if the price is a little much for you, a good alternative is the Asus Chromebook Tablet CT100. It’s a little smaller than the iPad Pro, coming in at 9.7 inches, but it’s less than half the cost at $330. It also comes with a stylus and touch screen for all you budding designers out there.

iMac 27 inch

The Apple iMac 27 inch was released in August 2020, with improved specifications and features. As an added bonus, Apple didn’t increase the price from the 2019 model, and you can pick up the latest iMac for $1,799 for the entry-level model. The webcam is now in 1080 HD, and coupled with an improved microphone, this makes it the ideal choice for those of us now working from home.

The improved specifications give us a powerful 3.6GHz Intel 9 processor and 32GB of RAM. However, with a possible switch to the Apple Silicon chip in the next few years, some of you might want to wait and see how powerful the new Macs will be before committing to this version of the iMac.

Best products 2021

iPhone 12

We’re expecting big things from Apple’s flagship product when it’s launched in September. Some of the planned features include 5G compatibility, a triple-lens 3D camera, A14 processor chip, and a switch to an all OLED line up.

We should see a version with a 6.7-inch screen, as well as a smaller iPhone 12 pro version, coming in at 5.4 inches. Like other launches, we expect Apple to come out with a range of models that differ in screen and memory size to give customers affordable options to choose from.

One thing to note is that we’ve heard rumors of possible delays to the iPhone 12’s release due to supply chain issues caused by the ongoing pandemic. So we might not see this model until October or even a little later in the year.

Apple’s biggest rival in the smartphone market, Samsung, has already released its Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, priced at $1,300. We’ll have to wait until Apple announces the price of the iPhone 12 to see who will win the price war, but Samsung already has at least a one month head start over its rival.

Homepod

Apple’s smart speaker, Homepod, is expected to be released as a smaller, more affordable version of it’s larger cousin. While this might mean the sound quality will take a hit, the lower price should prove popular. We haven’t been given specifics on price yet but we could see a Homepod Mini priced at less than the Amazon Echo in an effort to steal some of the smart speaker market’s competition.

Airtags

This is an innovative new product that Apple has hinted as coming in late 2020 to early 2021. Airtags are essentially small tiles that you attach to valuable items such as house keys, bags, and your wallet. If you’re having trouble finding your everyday carries, you can use an app on your phone to track your lost valuables. It’s rumored to be more powerful than traditional Bluetooth trackers, giving you an even more precise location.

You can also tag different Apple devices, so if you lose your phone, simply track it down using your iPad, iPhone, or iMac.

Apple TV

Apple TV appeared on the scene in November 2019 as a rival to the major streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime. It’s reported that the company is investing a staggering $6 billion in its TV service, meaning we might see a host of new original shows, a revamped set-top-box, the possibility of 8K programming, and different versions of the service.

Summary

Apple shows no signs of putting the brakes on its new product releases any time soon, and there’s definitely a lot to look forward to in 2020/21. As well as regularly putting out products with much-wanted features, most of the company’s products receive updated versions and new perks, so you’ll always be able to stay up to date with the latest innovations.
