Top Asus products of 2020

Asus is perhaps best known for its extensive range of high-quality laptops and computing products, and it’s held a steady market share of around 5.5% of the global laptop industry throughout 2020. This is something the company hopes to grow over the next year, and we’re going to see some interesting new devices being released.

It’s started to diversify its other offerings too, and 2020 gave us a new tablet and a powerful desktop device that was built with creative professionals in mind. We also expect Asus to capitalize on tech for the gaming industry in 2021, with impressive new laptops and high definition monitors on the cards.

If you’re wondering just exactly what was popular in 2020, and what to look forward to next year, read on as we guide you through the best Asus has to offer.

Best Products of 2020

Asus Chromebook Tablet CT100

Asus doesn’t have a particularly large range of tablets and is certainly some way behind the likes of Apple in terms of development, but the Chromebook Tablet CT100 is a rugged, reasonably priced alternative to the more expensive options on the market.

It’s targeted at modern students, those who are switching up their textbooks for more up to date technology. As such, it’s been built with a tough rubber shield to protect it from day to day damage and has even been military-grade tested, meaning multiple drops and knocks won’t slow it down.

It also offers a 10-hour battery life, good quality camera and audio, and the processor is fast enough to get you through a typical school day and more. As more students and professionals are working from home, we might see even more tablets like this in the future. Plus, you can’t argue with the $330 price tag.

Mini PC Pro Art PA90

The Pro Art PA90 is a high powered PC workstation aimed at those working in the creative fields. Those who work with 4K video, CAD software, Adobe’s program suite, and people in graphic design are just a few of the groups that are going to get a lot out of this device. It comes equipped with a powerful Intel Core i9-9900K processor, a hefty 64GB of RAM, and an Nvidia Quadro P4000 graphics card.

This translates into an incredibly fast and efficient performance. However, the super processing power comes with a price of $3,249, which could put a few people off. The Apple Mac 27-inch isn’t quite as powerful but is a lot cheaper if you’re after an alternative for design work.

Asus Zenbook 13

The Zenbook series has impressed us for a number of years now, and the 13 version is a welcome addition for 2020. Asus has managed to create a premium product while keeping the price lower than the equivalent competition at $1,149. It lands in the ultralight range too, weighing in at just 2.7 pounds. The Intel iCore 7-1051OU and 16GB of RAM make it a more powerful alternative to the Macbook Air for only a few dollars more.

The screen may be a little dim and upgrade options are limited, but it’s still an excellent choice for everyday, portable computing.

Best products of 2021

Asus TUF A15

The Asus TUF A15 is the company’s attempt to become the go-to gaming laptop option in 2021, and it might just be able to pull it off. Much like many other Asus products we’ve seen, this laptop is exceptionally powerful and durable. It might not look flashy on the outside, but inside you’ll find an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor, 16GB of RAM, and a generous 15.6-inch full HD screen.

At $2,000 it might sound pricey, but you’re getting a lot of technology for your money, and the TUF can outperform better-known brands such as Alienware. The downside really comes from the incredibly noisy fans. All this processing power needs a lot of cooling, and when the fans come on, you’ll certainly know about it.

Asus Proart StudioBook Pro 17

In keeping with the company’s aim to create one of the best ranges of designer-friendly products, Asus has introduced the StudioBook Pro 17. It’s a slightly cheaper, more portable version of its larger PA90 cousin mentioned earlier, and is aimed squarely at designers and editors.

It has an impressive 2TB of storage, a 17-inch screen, and its Nvidia RTX 3000 graphics card will have you speeding through most design and video editing tasks in no time. Unlike the PA90 desktop version, the ProArt 17 is lightweight and can be easily transported. The only thing that might put some people off is the $2,999.99 price, but, as with most Asus products, you really do get what you pay for.

If you’d like a cheaper alternative, though, the LG Gram range has some great options for designers.

ProArt Display PA248QV Monitor

In another move to corner the gaming and design accessories market, Asus has released its latest ProArt monitor. While designed to be used in tandem with the PA90, you can connect the monitor to any desktop. It’s 24 inches, budget-friendly at around $200, and has an impressive color range. It’s not the crispest monitor out there, but the ProArt is still an excellent budget choice.

If you’re on the lookout for a new laptop, then Asus is definitely a good place to start given the high-quality products that have come out of the company in the last year. It has also started to emerge as a real competitor to Apple in terms of technology geared towards design and development professionals. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what it can do as we move into 2021.
